A New Science Center for Tucson's Rio Nuevo District

The University of Arizona Science Center is a dramatic new science-based destination and attraction enclosing the following components:

The Butterfly Vivarium will be an enclosed tropical environment that is home to thousands of tropical butterflies.

A 24-Hour Observatory will offer views of both day and night skies through a large telescope.

The Unispherium is a state-of-the-art planetarium theater that will feature traditional star shows that take you far out into the cosmos, and new shows that can now take you down into the complex workings of a single human cell, or inside an erupting volcano, or through the Great Barrier Reef.

The Agriculture and Life Sciences Park will be a place to explore the future of agriculture and how that connects to the agricultural history of this region through programmatic connections to the Tucson Origins Heritage Park.

The EarthWorks Exhibit Hall explores the interrelationships between the Earth's natural systems (oceans, deserts, and forests) and man-made systems such as transportation and communications.

The Changing Exhibits Gallery will feature new and exciting traveling exhibits from around the world, ensuring that the center always has new experiences for its audience.

The Teacher Resource Center will provide "one-stop shopping" for teachers that offers professional training as well as materials and supplies for the classroom.

The Reality Science Exchange will be a high-tech space to learn about science that is in the news "today" and will present the latest breakthroughs and discoveries in science and technology.

A Center for Health and Wellness will be the place to go for accurate and current information on health-related issues.

The UA Mineral Museum will be expanded to highlight the beauty and variety of its world-class collection of minerals from the Southwest and Mexico.

An IMAX Theater will be the first large-format theater in southern Arizona and will offer both daytime and evening entertainment opportunities for visitors to downtown.

A Café and Science Store will provide the community with gathering places and a store that offers a range of high-quality educational gifts and products.
