OSIRIS-REx Presents: Great Balls of Fire!

Here through March 2013!

Have you ever wondered about the origins of comets, asteroids, and meteors? Or what they can tell us about Earth?

Visitors to the new OSIRIS REx PRESENTS Great Balls of Fire! exhibition, which opens at Flandrau Science Center on October 1st, can explore these mysterious space rocks through hands-on activities, computer-based interactives, meteorite specimens, scale models, and an immersive audio-visual experience called Asteroid Encounter.

Also featured in this amazing exhibit is the next NASA mission to an asteroid – the OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission being led by the University of Arizona. It launches in 2016 and returns a sample to Earth in 2023. Explore the questions the OSIRIS-REx mission will answer when it visits the asteroid and returns a sample of this early Solar System material. Could it tell us about origins of the Solar System and life? Don’t miss this out-of-this-world exhibit!
